Passive Voice
Passive voice is a form of sentence where the subject of the sentence receives the action, not performs the action. Generally, active sentences that can be transformed into passive sentences are in the form of active sentences containing transitive verbs (verbs that require a direct object) such as make, bring, buy, write and so on. This material is in learning grammar. In passive sentences, usually this sentence is made with a verb, where the subject does not indicate an activity or action. Passive sentence consists of subject, predicate and object. More clearly the meaning of passive sentence is a verb that does not show action and only acts as a recipient of action.
Here are the formulas for active and passive sentences for some tenses and examples of sentences:
- Simple Present Tense
S + Verb1 (s/es) —– i cook the fish. (Active)
Object + To be (are/am/is) + Verb3 + Subject —– the fish is cooked by me. (Passive)
- Simple Past Tense
S + Verb2 + Object ——– she washed the car (Active)
Object + To be (was/were) + Verb3 + Subject ——– the car was washed by her (Passive)
- Present Continuous Tense
S + To be (are/am/is) + Verb-ing —— they are studying English lesson. (Active)
O + to be (are/am/is) + being + Verb3 —– English lesson were being studied by them. (Passive)
See the example below:
- The bike was stolen by the thief. (sepeda itu dicruri oleh pencuri)
- The floor was cleaned by Jeje. (lantai itu dibersihkan oleh Paula)
The example of the passive sentence above states that the bicycle has been stolen by a thief. In this case, it is the thief who is the object who takes the action, while the subject, namely the bicycle, is the object that was stolen. Likewise in the second sentence.

The towers are networked to a central switching station. The connection usually uses wire, fiber optic-cables, or microwave.

Cellulars are pick up by the towers and relayed to another cellular telephone user or the user of wire-based telephone network. The towers vary in the capacity and capability to receive signals.
